Swedish Massage And Better Health

Swedish massage often referred to as classic massage is a form of treatment falling into the category of alternative medicine. The benefits of having this type of treatment on a regular basis is a preventative measure to not exposing oneself to more serious and debilitating conditions. It is a form of practice that is often misunderstood as most people who are uninformed about the positive effects it has on health will opt to use traditional medicine instead.

Treatments such as these allow the body recovery time from the strains it is placed under. Factors that increase stress levels range from noise pollution, air pollution and a catch phrase known as stinking thinking. It is when we give ourselves the opportunity to relax and at the same time have those stress deposits massaged away that our immune systems have time to regenerate themselves.

The technique involves kneading and long strokes of the hand called effleurage. The objective is to increase circulation to all parts of the body. In this way the body is able to cleanse itself of waste material because of the increased blood flow.

By having a treatment your focus is naturally drawn away from those thoughts and worries that pervade your life. When a therapist starts to work on a client their natural reaction is to feel what the therapist is doing on a certain part of their body. This immediately draws the attention away from those thoughts we constantly think about.

By clearing up issues or problems we may be experiencing in our lives the brain relaxes and makes room in a sense for other activities. This technique induces the flow of endorphins which are natural pain killers residing in the body. Just as a jogger will run miles to feel the calming effects of these chemicals released into the body this is also achieved through Swedish massage.

By doing this both client and therapist gain an awareness of the problem areas. A client will often inquire as to why he or she is experiencing discomfort in the ankle for example. The ankle area is naturally a joint prone to aches and pains because of the amount of movements it must make. The focus of the therapist will not be on how to solve the question asked by explanation as this could be due to numerous reasons but will manipulate the area to bring about relief.

Aching ankles can be the result of the tightness of shoe you wear. Whether they offer enough support or not. Another reason could be due to water retention. The therapist will address these concerns whilst gaining a better perspective of the clients lifestyle.

Swedish massage is both pleasurable and informative. It is a time to relax and has been in practice for centuries. Eastern countries are far more knowledgeable as opposed to Western countries as to its benefits on mind, body and spirit. It is a means to stay informed of how your body is coping and to give it the time it needs to heal.
